Changes to the Law On licenses, authorizations and permits in the Republic of Albania

On 27.05.2021 the Albanian Parliament approved the law no.72/2021 “For an amendment to the law no.10 081, dated 23.02.2009 “On licenses, authorizations and permits in the Republic of Albania”, as amended.

This amendment extends the categories of activities subject to licensing according to the law no.10 081, dated 23.02.2009, “On licenses, authorizations and permits in the Republic of Albania”, by adding the fields of “Financial technology (Fintech) and Information and Communication Technology”.

Specifically, the law provides for the below activities which are subject to licensing:

• Services related to the financial markets based on distributed registry technology;
• Information and communication technology.
